Lyman-Morse was selected to construct the groundbreaking SpeedDream 27 prototype because of its expertise in pre-preg carbon fiber construction. Cutting edge on every level, the SpeedDream prototype incorporated many features that made the project unique – a slender, wave-piercing hull, ultimate canting keel and stabilizing hydrofoil that creates additional righting momentum and offsets displacement. The goal of the project was to produce a prototype of the fastest monohull sailing yacht on the planet.
The project was a banner partnership from the very beginning. Vlad Murnikov, Brian Hancock, and Cam Lewis were charismatic, understanding and energetic as we worked through the process of building the boat. Their vast knowledge and pure drive to make this project a reality was an inspiration to all of us. The sparkle people get in their eyes when they see SpeedDream in our shed or on display at a boat show makes our hearts race, so when we finally had the opportunity to get SpeedDream out in Rockland Harbor, words couldn’t describe the excitement.
We are incredibly proud to take part in such a fascinating project and look forward to seeing where these technological innovations lead!
